getting info off old computer to new one

I have windows office ( lost the disc somewhere) on an old computer. I want to take it off and put it on my new computer. Not sure how to go about that, any ideas? I have some problems with old computer that will not allow it to get on internet to put office into any zip files so it can be sent by email. Not even sure if that will work anyway.

    Hello
Not sure if it can be done, as I believe installation, info is written into the registry.

2 years ago I bought an OEM copy of Office 97 at cnet.com's auction site for $35.00.
    Worth the investment.

    Good Luck,
    Dave

Thanks Dave, your idea is a good one, its cheap[er} at 35.00$ than some other ideas I have been mulling over.

    Hi carpenturr:

If you by chance copied the MS office install disk to your hard drive on the old machine, or on an external HDD,it could be burned to CDR and then run on the new machine from there. I have a similar situation with my Office 2000 setup, except that I did put the Office CD on and external drive. I haven't had to burn a cd yet as I can run it from the external HDD, or I also have it on zip disk(s) It is always a good idea to back up any software that you depend on. I also have an Office 97 disk and floppy install for Office 97 that I obtained directly from Microsoft as a backup of my Office 97 before upgrading to Office 2000. Moving really sucks lost some original disks and floppies for software, but the backups survived.

Office install makes several changes to the registration file, so just transferring an installation will not work. $35.00 sounds good for any MS Office install disk, make sure the key and documentation comes wit it.
