IE 6 visitrd links
OK, folks, got one for you. I'm using IE 6, and the visited links stay the same color as the non-visited links. I have the IE settings set correctly through internet tools. If I am on a page in Yahoo, the links do change colors correctly, but if I go to the next search page and go back the links are all the same color. Settings as I said are correct and history is set for 7 days. Any suggestions?

Maybe? Tools>internet options>General(tab)>colors (button) Make sure that visited and unvisited links have different colors.

Been there and done that. Thats the problem--I've done everything I can think of as far as settings go. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Have you tried the Internet Explorer "Repair tool"?
Also maybe Desktop Themes are to blame? Try changing it.
If you haven't done so already....

Already tried. I have tried all the usual fixes, but I appreciate your suggestions!

Is this happening on all web pages or just a particular site?
If it is only on a particualr site, perhaps they have a Cascading Style Sheet which set visited and unvisited links to the same color.

It is not on any particular site. I tried using Opera and the links did not show visited/unvisited either, so it must be my system. Think I'll check for video driver updates and see what happens. I'll post back.

777's--checked ignore web page colors and I'd rather revisit a link by mistake than that. Welshjim, glad to know it is not just me. Your pc isn't by any chance a HP is it? If so we might be on to something!

Thought it might be a problem with HP systems. I may have found a clue: I was installing some software from a disk, and it showed the browser as IE4. This came up just a couple of days ago too. I installed addremove pro and it showed IE6 as the browser with the key listed as IE40. I tried to uninstall IE6 and reinstall with a clean boot, bot the "restore previous version" box was grayed out so I was unable to fix it that way. So now the question becomes how can I uninstall IE for a clean install?
