Virus Alert: Gigger/JS HTML (very dangerous)
Hi, I wanted to pass this warning on.
Sincerely, Nancee
To: Technical Professionals
An HTML based Java Script virus is one of most dangerous types. The key reason
is they are deceptive and appear as "regular" HTML based EMAIL.
In Notes we separate out HTML attachments of this nature, plus we now have AV
protection for this one. Be very careful with your home EMAIL.
DELETE ALL MESSAGES ENTITLED OUTLOOK EXPRESS UPDATE in the SUBJECT field. Don't
risk opening any HTML portions of the EMAIL.
This one changes AUTOEXEC.BAT, so that when you reboot your entire hard drive is
reformatted and all data lost.
Hopefully this new threat will not spread far. When a virus wipes out a PC, it
looses it's capability to spread.
Still, any business or person hit with this one can loose information and result
in costly repairs, downtime, and data loss. Fortunately, this just came out.
It is not widespread and I'm hoping it will phase out completely with no
incidents for us.
SPECIAL NOTE: We are seeing record levels of malicious activity in SPAM EMAIL
and Virus Activity. DELETE all SPAM EMAIL and other unusual or
"out-of-character" EMAIL messages even if you know the author of it.

I have to admit, this sounded a little strange, but I used my own link to get to the Symantec page and its there. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome Wayne.
I have a friend who works in security and I get the notices so I like to post them here (I can't take the credit for them).
As a matter of fact, a virus has already been written for some Microsoft .NET thingy (the .NET won't be released for another year and yet some kid wrote a virus for it!).
Sincerely, Nancee
