Log On
I know I have asked this question before, but having the problem again. After we log off from the internet, about 15 minutes later and sometimes up to an hour later, the computer automatically starts dialing a connection. I have scanned and do not have a virus, the auto dialup is not checked and there are no web pages minimized in the tool bar. Can someone tell me how to stop this? Thanks for your help.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. I saw that box today and almost checked it but was not sure if I should. Again, thanks for your help. Will post back if that does not solve the problem.

Nope, that does not work. I checked that box and it will not dial up at all! **** the computer down and tried again and it does not dial up when i checked the box "never dial a connection". I unchecked it, and it dialed up. I want to be able to connect to the internet when I need to, but do not want the computer to dial on it's on 30 minutes after I log off. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help.

What do you use to check your e-mails? Try disable option such as "Check
for mail every 5/10/30/60/etc. minutes". Post back if this doesn't help.

We use Netscape communicator for email. It just started doing this in the past few days. The last time it did this we had a virus, but cleaned that up and it stopped it. No virus this time, scanned to be sure. After we log off and the computer is just showing the desktop, it starts to log on after a while of being idle. We have to shut it down to stop that from happening and then that means we have to go through the whole process jsut to get on the computer. Very annoying. Thanks for the help.

You never answered smitee's question. I have outlook and can set it to anything I want.. 1 min, 20 min, 5 minutes.. The virus might have changed some of you settings.. When in email, go to options and see if it is telling the DUN to dial to check messages...

Sorry I thought I did answer, but guess not. We use Netscape Communicator, not outlook express. We do not have an "options" bar. We went to "preferences" and there is no place to set the time to check new messages, or not that we can find anyway. There are several other things that can be set, but not the time to check new messages. Maybe we are looking int he wrong place, but this email program is not like outlook express. I use outlook express at work and we use the one with Netscape at home. We dual run dual browsers, but do not use the email program on Internet Explorer. Thanks for the help, guys!
