Install on demand has detected an error...
hope that someone can help, when i go to web pages/sites i get the following pop up box: Microsoft Internet Explorer install on demand has detected an error. Object doesn't support this property or method. This is such a pain, some items on the page will stay blank.. maybe have something to do with Windows Media player which has seemed to go on vacation somewhere?? i can no longer play video downloads. thanks for the help.
Good luck and please post back with results!

With IE open, click Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, make sure the box is checked for 'Enable Install On Demand'.
Uninstall Win Media Player in Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and reinstall it.
You may want to install MP 6.4. Later versions are buggy.

No leave 'Enable Install On Demand' unchecked. It's a security risk having it checked. Having it checked can allow websites to install crap without your permission. wojo629, do you get the error with all sites or just some? Do you get the error when you come to this board? If you already have 'Enable Install On Demand' in internet options--advanced tab checked then uncheck it and see if the errors are gone.

Look in your Programs menu for a Media Player entry, and see if there is an uninstall utility.
If none, then check your Program Files folder. If it's there, uninstall it, edit the Registry, and reinstall it.
BTW, I've had 'Install On Demand' enabled for almost 3 years without any problems.

I think half of those are phoney pop ups that will install something.. definetly keep it out.. ( if the never install check box should come up for a genuine ms safe dl?? check it) Blow away your cookies and temp internet files everytime before you quit will help a lot.

There are free programs that prevent ads and other stuff from popping up. Use one myself.
Works great.
Wiping out the contents of the Cookies folder at the end of each session is a pain. One has to keep re-entering user ID and PW info for all of the secure sites.
A better way is to use a free utility that selectively removes any spyware.

yeah I know skj.. http://www.webattack.com/get/cookiemunch.shtml cookie muncher works really well with www.webwasher.com too. webwasher has beta if you haven't informed me somebody did last night. beta.
I hate diagnosing those multiple user environments where anybody can log on to a machine but user profile remains long after retirement or death.. "slowly I turned.. step by step".. [three stooges]
