FYI... IE6 and Diskeeper 5.0
Hi all,
I have been doing a Format/clean install on my machine and istalling latest IE and Media player 7.0 instead of OEM 98se.
I've just discovered Diskeeper 5.0 will not install because Diskeeper does not detect IE 4.0 or greater and cannot continue without some sort of pack from Diskeeper. I went to Diskeeper's home page and found no such pack available.
Rather than to revert back to IE 5.5, install Diskeeper, then upgrade to IE 6, I have just started using ME defrag. I think it will serve me just as well.
Hmmm.. maybe one of these geniuses who hangs here knows of a workaround. but the purpose of this post is to inform, I reckon there's other third party software out there that will give similar install failures resulting from IE 6 installed.

WinME defrag is based on Diskeeper and I prefer it over diskeeper. Yes, I have 5.0 myself. Diskeeper was bragging on the fact WinMe was based on Diskeeper. Tried WinMe and have run it since.
Just my experience.
They both do the same nice job.

steve,
I had to put diskeeper to bed a while ago, it kept smurfing copies of mdm.exe and creating those 'fff' files.
From what I remember, I believe Diskeeper is looking for a M$ pack... I think it wants VM. I've heard that IE 6 dosen't have native Java support... so that may be the problemo.
I know it told me what it was looking for... I can pull those old records if no one else has the skinny.

Anyone know a way to save the full install of Media player 7.0?
I saved Media player folder from program files, but only has part of the install, it downloads the rest into Windows/Temp and deletes the Temp folder as soon as install completes. I would like to preserve the entire install files to save on D/L times.

When I pull my bootstraps, why don't I load Windows?
