Renovator - KT7-R Non-Raid setup
Renovator, Do you know if there is any tricks to setup a KT7-R MOBO to use IDE 3&4 and not a Raid array? This manual is like reading an IRS tax form instructions in broken english, with portions left out.
Thanks!

I am not Renovator but I will take a crack at this.
If you have ATA100 HDD(s) just hook it (them) up as normal. It will not be a RAID array unless you set it up to be in the RAID BIOS.
If one of the ATA100 HDDs is your boot disk set up the first boot device to IDE 3 or 4 or ATA100 (or Future ATA).

Well, just hook one of them up in IDE 3 & the other in IDE 4. But the ATA66 HDD will not run at ATA100 though.
It's not a problem but it's better if the 2 drives are not on the same IDE controller (unless you're running out of channels.)

That's what I was going to try this weekend.
Thanks!

Don't know any tricks...I would approach it like falcon2000 suggests.
Just a general rule I use on setting up configs. I don't start partitioning or formatting until the what BIOS detects and reports are as they should be.
BTW, you don't need to flag us in the title. There's no sense possibly limiting your resources.

I have it setup exactly the way you are describing.
Both of my hard drives are on ide3 & 4 if you don't setup a array it won't exist and it will treat it like seperate ide channels. I have 2 30gb drives and I do ghost backups weekly to the second drive with no problems.

troyz, keep an eye out for me this weekend, I am going to attempt it. The more I look at this manual the more I get confussed.
After I reback up my files, I am going into the HTP370 BIOS and select Delete Raid. Go in and change the drives to the way I want them, unplug my backup drive (Slave to CD-R/W on IDE1, to protect it from a possible mess up) fdisk & format the drives on IDE 3&4. Then reload.
Sounds simple, does it sound right?

Why are use going into the HTP370 BIOS and "delete RAID"?
Are you using a RAID array right now? I was under the impression that your IDE 3 & 4 channels are currently open (unused)! If you have not setup a RAID array before there is none to be deleted!!!
Just hookup the drives and let the (regular) BIOS to auto detect them. You don't need to go anywhere even near the HTP370 BIOS at all!

Falcon2000, yes I have a Raid 0 with the 20gb and 6.5gb.
I want to go back with no Raid using IDE 3&4
40gb & 20gb.

Sorry. You didn't say in your previous posts.
The steps that you outlined above are correct.
(You did say you will backup what you have in IDE3 & 4 now, right? Coz' deleting the RAID will wipe out your drives there.)

pfoerste, if the future stuff is Non-Raid, you may want to keep it in this thread.

Geez, I knew something was missing.
A few words od advice, pfoerste. A lot of threads got added here everyday and thousands of people visit this board daily. It is to your benefit that you keep all related issues in one thread. And if you feel that you must open up a new thread please give complete info in the new thread b/c people who answer your new thread may not have seen your old thread.

Umm yeah, make sure you have a backup as deleting the raid will definitely require you to reinstall/restore everything.
