ctfmon.exe
Hi all, ive posted this question before with little result..... This appears in my startup progs, Ive unchecked it and it reappears. I know its related to office xp in some way. Do I need it? will it prevent an office app from working? Can any one explain what it does? thanks

CTFMon is involved with the language/alternative input services in Office XP.
CTFMON.exe will continue to put itself back into MSConfig when you run the
Office XP apps as long as the Text Services and Speech applets in the Control
Panel are enabled. Not required if you don't need these features. Gleaned from the net.

There's a couple of graphics program's support areas that recomend disabling it to resolve conflicts.
This is done by renaming the file itself (CTFMON.EXE -> CTFMON.EXX).
I know the features like speech irmeruu
mentioned can be useful, but unsure if they will still operate with file renamed.

Delete following key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ctfmon.exe.
I Export this key to a file and then delete it.
