Sorry...they start with "ff..." have a bunch of address numbers and a .TMP extension.
If they were there...you would have seen them as you scrolled down.
I'm just trying to come up with goofy missing file space...I really don't think this is a file problem...but who knows.
BTW...is this an ABit or MSI board...looks like I may have fallen asleep too.
Edit: Can you verify how scandisk reacts...as WhitPhil queried ?

Renovator, no ff files.
It is an Abit Kt7-Raid MOBO.
I hope I won't have problems setting this thing up without Raid using IDE 3 &4. I have all kinds of FAQ's and data I downloaded about RAID. The MOBO manual is written in pigeon english some times. It some times leaves the uninformed confused.
I am sorry if I don't respond very quickly. I have to get off line to free the phone up
once in a while.

If you are letting windows handle the swap file, then win386.swp should appear only in windows directory. Delete the other one. May have to do it in pure dos.
Also what WhitPhil saw, I failed. You should have 8KB allocation sizes, but you said you knew it and set it that way.
Do you have room on the 6GB drive to copy all c drive, minus win386.swp, then fdisk, remove all partitions, recreate partition, activate, format, paste/copy data back from 6GB. You know how to master the slave and vice versa for all this copy/paste routines?
Just thinking out loud as to what approach I would take. This is it. Good luck.

hi,
I can but suggest you start burning data backups.
raid don't really like different speed and size drives..., and one of these days, your data may go footsie.
let's say what I know about fits in one sixth of a gill, but I did experiment with it and have abandoned it since I felt that going for performance alone, would have jeopardised my data.
(did not have enogh disks for striped mirror)
(I do a lot of diskswapping, and once one drive gets out of the loop... bye data)

THANKS EVERYONE!!
I am going to buy a new WD 40gb hard drive Thursday when I go to Gainsville. Then I am going to fdisk the 20gb and 6.5gb that are on the Raid array, put the 40gb as my c:\ IDE3 master, the 20gb as my d:\ IDE4 master and leave my other 6.5gb as e:\ (which is slave to my CD R/W). And not have a Raid array.
