Resolved [RESOLVED] New problem; Firefox profile damaged/lost

Okay, I get rid of the Bing page (Thank you), but in the process I lost my bookmarks, passwords, and all of the Firefox customization.

I tracked it down to the profile having been wiped. And i was able to find the old profile. I just cannot restore it.
The instructions provided by Firefox are gibberish. They include Firefox menu items which do not exist, and ones
which do not do what they say they will do. A pox on Firefox. I am able to do the "Select Profile" thing and get all the
customization back, it just won't stay there. Next time I open Firefox they are all gone.

I found in my drive where the profiles are stored, and have identified both the profile with all of my goodies and the current profile.
I have also identified which file within those profiles hold passwords, which ones hold bookmarks, etc. Can I simply copy those files from the
good profile to the current one, overwriting the files in the current profile? Asked at Firefox help and have gotten no answer.

I'll bet someone here knows. I hope so. Thanks.

I would make backup copies of the profile files that you will be replacing before overwriting them.

Make sure that ALL instances of Firefox are closed (check Task Manager).

Note that you may wind up with the Microsoft Bing page back again afterwards. It should be possible to remove that WITHOUT altering the other profile settings.

Now might also be a good time to think about making an image backup of your entire C: drive, just in case issues arise where it might be useful.

Thank yo for the quick response. Firefox is now asking me to select a profile when is starts, so all I have to do is select the one which contains the passwords, bookmarks, etc.
Why it has begun asking me to select a profile is a complete mystery, but I'm not into checking the mouths of gift horses.
The profile appears to not have some cookies, and some of the appearance settings are not there, but that is details.
I'm going to mark this thread resolved, and start a new one if needed.

    AI info:

To set and load a default profile in Firefox, type aboutrofiles into the address bar. Click Set as default profile under your preferred profile, and restart the browser.

    Step-by-Step Instructions
    1. Open the Profile Manager
Open Firefox, type aboutrofiles into the address bar, and press Enter.
    2. Select the Default Profile
Scroll down to locate the profile you want to use.
Click the Set as default profile button beneath it.
Note: The profile will now display Yes next to "Default profile".
    3. Load the Profile
    Close all open Firefox windows.
Reopen Firefox; it will automatically load your newly selected default profile.

    Pro-Tips
Need to switch back? You can change profiles at any time by returning to aboutrofiles, clicking Set as default profile for a different one, and restarting the browser.
Choosing at Startup: If you want to force Firefox to ask which profile to load every time you open it, go to your account menu, click Manage Profiles, and check the box for Choose a profile when Firefox opens.
