Resolved [RESOLVED] Getting rid of Microsoft Bing desktop images

In a moment of insanity I let myself be suckered in by an ad for Microsoft Bing, background images. That thing is horrible. Awful images, and it clutters up everything.

I went to "Installed Apps" and uninstalled it. That had no effect.
I then went to Control panel and Installed programs." It is listed there but has no uninstall option shown.

How do I undo my stupidity and get rid of this monster?

    AI Overview:

To remove Microsoft Bing desktop images, uninstall the "Bing Wallpaper" app via Settings > Apps > Installed Apps. If images persist, turn off "Windows Spotlight" by going to Settings > Personalization > Background and changing the dropdown to "Picture" or "Slideshow". This stops daily automated image changes.

Thanks. I have done what you suggest and quite a lot more found on Google. I have reduced the problem to two areas:

    1. A picture screen cluttered with Bing search entry that pops up when my computer is booted up.
    2. A similar screen that pops up in a new tab whenever I click the "Home" button in my Firefox browser.

Can't find anything about getting rid of these. Any ideas?

For the Firefox problem, do you actually use the Bing search site? If not, then just change the page that Firefox loads when a new tab is created. If yes, then you may need to try to configure the Bing search page to not display anything you do not want to see.

Customize the Firefox New Tab page:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...x-new-tab-page

On the Bing search page, here should be a "gear" icon in the upper right corner that you can click on to change the various page settings for the Bing search page to turn of ads and background images, etc.

For the boot image issue, I am assuming that the image that you are referring to is for the login screen. If that is not the case, we will need additional information about exactly when during the boot process the image appears and what it looks like. For the login screen image, below are some possibly useful links:

I had that wrong. Hard to help when I'm getting the facts wrong, so let me try again. Sorry.
    1. No issue when the computer boots up.
    2. An extra tab comes up when I start Firefox. (It starts with two tabs open.) One tab is my home page. The other is the big picture cluttered with Microsoft links and the Bing search.
    2. The same extra tab comes up without my calling it whenever I hit the "Home" button in Firefox.

When you go to settings-home what is shown there? Are any of the options filled? If there are and you can't delete or change them here are basic instructions for possible workarounds...

When I open a new tab on purpose, i.e. click on the plus sign to the right of the tabs, a new tab opens as expected with the material on it that is supposed to be there.

The problem is that when I hit the Firefox "Home" button or start Firefox a new, extraneous tab opens like a weed, not due to me opening it, but on its own volition and against my will, containing a screen-sized image (usually ugly), a bunch of Microsoft links, and the Bing search input. In both cases the Home page also appears as expected.

Did you actually check the Firefox settings to see what Home and Startup pages are set up? I am thinking that Microsoft has modified the settings to include their junk page. The links I posted should allow you to see what your current settings are and change them if needed. If you do not see any unwanted pages there, please let us know.
