From that warning:
Your account might not show these settings enabled by default yet
Mine was. Now disabled on all my acct's.
I now get a message when I use my browser to check email spam folders
Turn on smart features and personalization in Gmail, Chat, and Meet to use inbox categories
No issues with my Thunderbird.
