Importing bookmarks from an old Firefox

    Win 7
    FF
    Chrome 109.0.5414.120
    Waterfox
    -----------------------

I've been using Waterfox Classic, but it's getting outdated. Trying to switch from the very old Firefox 52.9esr to FF 115.3.1. I have 1200 bookmarks in the old one, and the new FF says it will import only from Chrome or IE. I know I can't re-use my old profile. Any idea how I can import my bookmarks?

Never mind. I copied the file places.sqlite. Now I need an extension that can make 3 rows of bookmark folders. None of my old extensions are any good.

    Try this:

    In WF Classic:
    Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
    Import and Backup > Backup...
The bookmarks should be saved to .json file
    Click Save

    In FF115.3.1ESR:
    Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks
    Import and Backup > Backup...
    Restore > Choose File...
Browse to the .json you created earlier
    Click Open

I'm guessing you mean multiple lines in the Bookmarks Toolbar? I don't know of any current extensions that can do that, but you could try modifying your userchrome.css.

Note that you need to enable toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets in about:config
    about:config > toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets > true

    https://github.com/Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx/releases/

There is a "BOOKMARKS TOOLBAR - MULTIPLE LINES" section, but I haven't tried it myself. You'd need to remove the /* at the beginning of the line to enable it.

    @import "./css/toolbars/bookmarks_toolbar_multiple_lines.css"; /**/
