[RESOLVED] Chrome being blocked
Win 7
Chrome 109.0.5414.120
-----------------------
I'm helping a friend with her laptop. Her late husband had set it up, and I'm not sure of everything that's in there.
She had been using Seamonkey, but it hasn't been updated in ages, so I installed Chrome 109.0.5414 (1/2023,) the last Chrome that's compatible with Win 7. We keep getting a message that it's being blocked by either a firewall or antivirus. I checked her Win firewall and it's not blocking anything. Don't know what AV she's using, but I can't imagine it would block an entire browser from working.
Any clues?

Try temp disabling whichever a/v is running and see what happens. Also try to reinstall Chrome with it disabled.
Also have a look in event viewer to see if there are any clues to what's causing the problem. To launch the Event Viewer, just hit Start, type "Event Viewer" into the search box, and then click the result.
Worth noting is Firefox browser is still keeping itself up to date on Win 7 so it would be a safer option to use. Chrome has stopped security updates on Win 7.
