I have a PC with windows 7 home Premium, a new install on a Dell Optiplex 3020. Been trying to install drivers from the Dell website. Mainly the network driver so that I can get onto the internet.
However, when I try to install a driver, I get this message: The procedure entry point AddDIIDirectory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
I have no idea how to fix this. I had previously had a HD with the same OS & was able to load all the drivers with no problem at all. But that HD died, so I replaced it & reinstalled the same Win7 OS,
but now, it will not allow me to installed the drivers. Any solutions. Thanks much......
jdc, I had already checked that. Microsoft states that app is no longer available. I don't believe I have ever heard of a USB ethernet adapter, but I will certainly check into that. Thanks.
And Steve RJ, I have downloaded all of the available drivers for that PC from Dell to another PC & have all on a thumb drive. However, none will work till I resolve the problem. Thanks.
I recently read where Windows 7 Ultimate, is far better than Home or other versions. I do happen to have that CD. I may go ahead & try to install it instead. And maybe, that might resolve the original problem. What do you think ??
WOW, WHAT A CHANGE OF EVENTS. jdc, I just happened to click on that file that was listed in the computer guy/procedure, and it automatically downloaded it to my PC. I put it on a thumb drive & installed it on the Dell 3020, & all went well. Now I can get the rest of the driver installed. What a relief! Thanks again...............
Depending on what applications you have that might need the .Net Framework 2.0 or 3.5 (both are included in the file), you may need the following links also:
Thanks jdc, I think the big reason I had so much trouble was because the Windows7 installation disk was the : Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade which apparently did not have all of the elements. Anyway, the drivers seem to be installing ok now. The sp1 took over an hour to install, but all went well. Thanks again...........
Before I retire for the night, I need one more favor if possible. Every time I reboot this Windows7, My icons always go back to the left side of the screen no matter how I placed them. And yes, everything pertaining to,i
is unchecked in personalities view windows. I cant seem to find an answer on the internet.
