    Taskmon not repsonding

Toshiba Portege 3490CT brand new build. Win98....TASKMON keeps freezing and not responding.

    Mircosoft's sight offers this: http://support.microsoft.com/support...SRCH&SPR=W98SE

But not really my problem...it keeps "NOT RESPONDING"...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Did you follow those instructions to delete the applog folder? The same behavior could result.

You can also go to start>run and run msconfig, then click on the Startup group and clear the check for Taskmon.

It's function is to keep a dirctory (applog) of most frequently accessed programs to be used for optimization during defrag. It is not required. I keep mine unchecked and see little difference in performance.

Cool. I did both, renamed the folder AND unchecked it out of MSCONFIG.

That seems to help out...now if I can only keep Windows from taking 5 minutes to load at the WIN98 Splash screen.

Get and run Boot Log Analyzer for Windows 95/98
Do not forget to run a logged bootup first.
