"Connect Automatically" missing from "Dial-up Connection"
My neighbor had to reformat (email virus).
Now when he clicks on IE or OE his computer will not connect to our ISP. Has to click on My Comp/ Dialup network/ right click ISP and click "connect". His Dial-up Connection box does not contain the "Connect Automatically" option since formatting.
Running 98 w/ IE4.0 is currently D/L 5.5
Any suggestions on what happened? I believe the option was with 4.0 so 5.5 might not add it. Correct?
Are we overlooking something?
Thanks for any info.

if you go to the tools menu, click on internet options, on the connections tab,
select the option always dial my default connection
somewhere in one of the settings (could be under properties of dialup option in dialup netowrking on the options tab) there is an option to prompt for telephone number - turn this off. next time it dials up you should now get the option to put the tick in the box for connecting automtaically...

FYI: The auto connect appeared after D/L 5.5
So prob solved. Was interesting that his 4.0 did not have it. My old 4.0 did. Thats what was throwing us off. Just one of those strange "windows" experiences.
Thanks,
carson
