Angry Does the Creator's Update just ignore the "Configure Automatic Updates" Group Policy

I have Windows 10 Pro, and used the Group Policy Editor to disable checking of updates so I can manually install them when I want to. The Install Updates screen when I did manually install would reflect this, saying that it would not check for updates.

I notice this has changed now ever since I installed the creator's update, now it claims it will check and install them automatically... is the Update app just displaying that by default, or is it actually ignoring this group policy now? Is there a new one that took it's place?

And no, I am not talking about deferring updates for X amount of days, I am talking about preventing them at all until I manually choose to run an update.

Have you tried to re-apply the group Policy you used on the Updates? Microsoft usually likes to change your preferences to theirs when they deploy a major update.

Any major update from Windows , means we have to redo any special setting(s) we have.

They have been batting 100% on deleting my one change.

The group policy's settings were still the same, I was asking if it just ignores the group policy now.

Which version of Windows 10 do you have (Home, Pro, Enterprise, etc.)? I have not seen any reports that the latest update ignores the Group Policy setting, but it might. You should still try re-applying it - just because it is still there does not mean that it is active.

Pro, and yeah, that Group Policy method is what I used to block them before.

I thought the group policy settings to block updates was disabled in the Anniversary Update, not Creator's Update. The settings are there, but they aren't enforced on Pro.

Use Group Policy to Disable Automatic Updates (Professional Editions Only)

Editor’s Note: This option, while it still exists, seems to no longer work in the Anniversary Update for Windows 10, but we’ve left it here in case anyone wants to try it. Proceed at your own risk.
