Clean install
Test bases
Win 7 installed
mobo drivers
Video drivers
Normally now I would install MSE, but this time, I did not.
Note> at thi time I did install IE11
Hit windows update and one item update, let set over night and nothing showed up.
I have chose critical updates only.
Right now I am using Autopatcher and when windows reboot to update pops up,I am letting it do that.
MidKnyte,s reference to it is in post 12.
Started out with 109 and now it has 78 left to install. From 109, SP1 to here has taken about 2.5 hours.
Rebooting time again.

Cool. I'm glad you're using Autopatcher. Pretty simple, right?
You should install IE11 first. Otherwise, you'll have to reinstall the IE patches.

Simple yes, just gets a bit tiresome having to go through the same steps each time you have to reboot.
Sure beats getting nothing though.
72 left to install.

Oh. Doesn't it suppress the reboots? Hmm. I guess I haven't done a clean install in a while.
At least you can download them all in one crack.

Yes, it did download everything.
It may have suppressed somethings, but when the reboot to install pop up comes up, I let it have its way.
Seems it pops up about every 3 to 5 installs. That is OKAY by me. As it goes through the configuring windows updates routine,
69 left. The last reboot was a triple , install reboot install reboot install reboot.

Hmm. I can't really test it at work, but I thought there was a way to suppress restart prompts for all.
This works from a batch file:
Windows6.1-KB#######-x64.msu /quiet /norestart

Well, I had thought of a batch file, but decided to do like most folks would .
Therefore, I just will do the multiple reboots.
Had company over for the evening meal, good company at that. So things kind of slowed down for a bit.
34 left.
A full bat file posted would be a good thing I believe.

oops I forgot the wusa.exe part. You could do a dir /b > updtlist.bat to create a list of updates.
Add this line and make sure updtlist.bat is in the same folder as the updates.
:: Sets current directory
cd /d %~dp0
wusa.exe Windows6.1-KB#######-x64.msu /quiet /norestart
The Malicious Software Removal Tool uses different switches, though:
Windows-KB890830-V5.44.exe /q
Add this at the end to reboot:
::Reboot
shutdown.exe -r -f -t 10

Installed, updated and ran MSE.
Windows update is working and is installing 53 updates.
Done.
Rather quicker than had been in the past.
