    ZenMate

    What ho one and all,

In response to another thread, it was suggested that I give ZenMate a try.

My understanding is that there is a free version, but I hve had no luck in finding it. The version that I tried, I had to register with my e-mail for a 30 day premium trial; now that has finished, I get regular messages asking me to pay up or the software will not work and it is not working.

Is there a basic, freeware version and if so, where do I find it?

It was me that recommended it and all I did was install the trial version, register with an email address and when the trial expired the lighter free version continued to work. I installed it over a year ago so perhaps they've changed the setup but from what I can see the free version should still continue to work. I do get a non obtrusive message asking to upgrade every few days but once I view that message and dismiss it the program continues to function.

What happens when you try to run it or go into settings?

Yeah, it worked well for the trial and I was a happy bunny. Now it starts with FF but nothing. If I click the icon, I am taken to the payment window to activate.

So I removed it and reinstalled; again, it starts but is doing nothing. Click the icon and am taken to the sign in to start the Premium trial page. When I use my e-mail address, I am of course told that it is already in use!

I thing the current 'free' on the ZenMate site relates to free download!

Try uninstalling it and then adding it as an addon from here...

Thanks for the link but htat is the page I have been suing. If I sign up, it tells me that the e-mail address is already taken. Of course it is; it's mine! Also, at the top it says 'Sigh up ofr free Premium trial.' That is wah I was on until the trial finished and now, zilch.

Guess they have changed the business model.

What is happening now; with ZM active as a FF add-on, every toime I fire up FF, it takes me to the ZM page to either register (see above) or log-in to my account. if I log-in, I am advised to up-grade to the Premium a/c. There is no option for a free, basic VPN.

Also, on the add-on page, ZM says amongst other things, " ZM is free, easy to install and use." Certainly the latter two are true but the first is only for a limited time.

Perhaps they have changed how it works but you'd think that would affect others (me) too. Try contacting them
here [email protected] and see what they say.
