Log On
When we disconnect from the internet a few seconds the computer tries to log on again and it does this several times before it finally stops. What is wrong with it? We used to hear the modem dial in and could disconnect, but now for some reason it dial "quietly" and we may be logged on for hours and not know it. I checked the modem sound and it is on, but still no sound. We use GTE Internet Express. The dialing up after we have loged off is the main quirk at this time. Thanks for any help.

In Internet Options/Connections Tab select 'Never Dial a Connection'. Also while you are there in the window select your DUN and on the right click on settings. Put a check in the bottom box if you want to use this option.

Hello and thanks for your replies. I had already "unchecked" the auto log in box, but it still logs on automatically anyway. And just this morning when it dialed in, I could hear the modem, but had not done anything different for that. We do from time to time get a screen freeze and we have to reboot, or an illegal operation and have to reboot. So not sure if it is all connected or not. My other posts was about the computer not shutting down and the response to that was mayeb a virus. Gonna check that out too. Again thanks for yoour help and I will let you know if we get the problems fixed.
