[RESOLVED] Cannot Find Ethernet Driver For Dell Optiplex 320
Windows XP Professional x64
Service pack 2
3 GB RAM
Intel Core 2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
I went to the Dell site and downloaded ATI_ATI-radion express, files R129514, R134873, R149798. I went to "system properties" "Device manager" right clicked "ethernet controller" then "properties" then opened the "details" tab and entered on the Dell site which it said to enter "PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_170C&SUBSYS_01E51028&REV_02\4&B7B19ED". Nothing worked. Any help would be appreciated.

That is a Broadcom driver.

Check the PCI/Ven listings.
Try just this
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_170C&SUBSYS_01E51028&REV_02 , how I located that it was a Broadcom unit.

R149798 is the Broadcom 440x 32-bit driver, but you already tried that, right?

Why did you load XP64? Your system only has 3GB of RAM anyway.

I tried this PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_170C&SUBSYS_01E51028&REV_02 and tried two files. "BCM4401" and "R143620". I got this message "The installer is invalid for the detected operating system." Yes I tried "R149798".
Why load XP64? I have two music programs that only work up to and including XP. The programs have latency in them and the faster the operating system the less the latency. If I need more memory what would you suggest? By the way, thanks for the replies!

You could try the source in the link below.
No guarantee though.

Also, depending on the BIOS revision, 4 GB of RAM is the maximum (2 GB on some BIOS versions).

Do your apps specifically say XP64? When apps say XP, they usually mean 32-bit. Like Train said, XP64 drivers can be hard to come by, since there weren't many users.
If you had 4GB of RAM or more, I could maybe see going to 64-bit XP. You only have 3GB of RAM anyway, so XP 32-bit would be fine.

Ten bucks or so will get you a new ethernet card if you can find one with drivers for 64 bit XP.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Thanks for the help! I'm sure I can live with 32 bit XP as the programs were designed for Millenium!

Even more of a reason to stick with XP 32-bit.
