Windows 10
This has probably been asked before, but I haven't been on this site for a few months. I have a laptop running Windows 7 and a desktop running 8.1 I keep getting notices, especially for the desktop, that I can upgrade to Windows 10 for free. I resisted at first waiting until the potential bugs had been worked out, but now I am wondering if it would be a smart move to upgrade to the latest operating system. I am not particularly enamored with either 7 or 8.1, but I am used to them. Is there a consensus on whether this is a good idea and have there been any issues I should be aware of. Thanks in advance.

Read through the posts in the Windows 10 forum on this site and you will probably find your answer.
Ask yourself why you would want to switch to Windows 10 - what will you gain?
Windows 10 is basically unfinished at present. It has driver issues for various hardware items. It is also a privacy nightmare.
Check out the threads in the Windows 10 forum.

If you really are compelled to get Win 10 wait for the next release that'll allow a fresh install using an existing Win 7, 8 or 8.1 activation key. Win 10 is bloated with useless crap, MS installs drivers automatically thorough Windows Update even if that option is turned off and if you delete the unwanted garbage it comes back on its own. I uninstalled several of the bloatware apps as well as the Windows Store (I'll never give MS another penny of mine for anything) using PowerShell and they just keep returning. I haven't had any driver issues other then Updates constantly attempting to install older drivers than what I currently have. It does work well when everything is customized far from the default Win 10 installation but that's not something the average user is capable of.

I like windows 10 and have it on all our pc's except for my win7 machine due to a sound card problem. I don't mind turning off privacy issues and doing things such as using the show/hide app if I have driver issues. I do like it better than win7 and win 8.1, but that is my opinion, others may vary. I don't use my computers for work. If you install it and don't like it, it is very easy to go back. I did install win 10 on my win7 pc; had sound card problems and went back. Only takes a few minutes to revert back.
