asus got bumped and now wont boot
The wife barely bumped her asus X551c laptop and now wont boot up, it just boots to the bios menu. The only media it has is usb. I tried to use bootable usb with boot-repair-disk program but it just sits there and scans the computer.I pulled the hard drive and battery out and put them both back in and still nothing. I think the boot record got corrupt. Any suggestions.

For grins - go into the BIOS and save to see if that makes any difference.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

It sounds like the hard drive was damaged. You should run the hard drive manufacturer's diags. Let us know the make/model of the HD.
UBCD5 has most manufacturer's HD diags. The link is in my signature. You can use Rufus to make a bootable USB drive, but it will wipe out all data on the USB drive.

Most likely the zero track is damaged. Run any known utility to diagnose the zero track.
