Resolved [RESOLVED] Turning On Network Access Protection

    Windows 7 Ultimate

How do I turn on Network Access Protection? Right now it says it is off. Do I need that?

    Thanks

You wouldn't need that unless you are on a domain or corporate network.

You can enable it if you want, but I don't see a reason to do that.
You would just need to start the Network Access Protection Agent in Services.

    Thanks Midknight!

In search I typed 'services' and clicked on 'view local services' and found 'Network Access Protection Agent' and clicked on it. Then I right clicked and selected properties under general then selected automatic. Did I do that correct? It now says Network Access Protection is on. Since NAP was not on could I have some viruses or whatever infecting my network?

No, that's not what NAP is for.

With Network Access Protection, system administrators of an organization's computer network can define policies for system health requirements. Examples of system health requirements are whether the computer has the most recent operating system updates installed, whether the computer has the latest version of the anti-virus software signature, or whether the computer has a host-based firewall installed and enabled.
Like I said, unless you are on a domain, you can keep it off. It is basically for domain admins to monitor workstations. Even if you are on a domain, you can keep it off unless your domain admins enable it.

The reason I asked is that we were having trouble with our phone, which is Majicjack, and the tech person said it was because our NAP was not turned on and we had several viruses. This did not make sense from what I read about NAP and what you are telling me. They just wanted money! I do use Microsoft security, Malwarebytes and Win Cleaner

Ok, that "tech person" is flat out wrong. NAP would allow admins to check if your workstation has AV installed, but it would not protect your system. I'm guessing you are not on a domain, so leave it OFF.

MSE is ok. I would probably go with Avast if you want a freebie AV.
    Malwarebytes is good.
    I wouldn't bother with WinCleaner.
