[RESOLVED] Accessing multiple SATA Hard Drives

I have a few SATA Hard Drives which are all encrypted. Currently, I have SATA cables and power cables running out the back of my computer. Mode is set on ACHI so I can do hotswap. When I need to access any of these, I would manually plug each hard drive (two max). This method has worked well for the last 5 years. Only hassle is having to plug and unplug.

Objective: Is it possible to access all of them if needed? Turn on a switch and they all power on or off. Like a hub? Can I also leave them in a gun safe and access them remotely inside my home if needed or is wire the better way to go. I don't need to access them remotely outside my home.

I would appreciate if you could give some options so I can decide if it is worth to pursue.

Alternative: Move data to tape NAS drive. I do not want to do this because I would have to start the encryption process over. Plus, my existing hardware would be a waste.

But if the case has a metal exterior, which will kill wireless, seen lead paint do that and had to get a new antenna 6 dB to punch through the paint.

I have been reading and researching for the last 90 minutes. What I am looking for is probably a "multiple hard drive enclosure" although it will not be remote. I think that is what I am looking for in my case.

That is good info Train.

Thunderbolt peaked my interest when I saw the comparison to USB 3.0. Thunderbolt (started by Apple and Intel) is supposed to be able to move 10 gb/s while USB 3.0 is supposed to be able to move 5 gb/s.

But note too, the high speeds I saw where with SSDs and sometimes they were used in a raid.

I'll stick with USB/Lan for a while longer.

I will too because from my understand of reading those articles, it is still mainly market for MAC. I think that is what I got from those articles.

Regardless, both are still slower than eSata from a bench comparison that I saw earlier today.
