No install involved, supported browsers have the code built in , along with various codec support, view that (slash)html5 page with Firefox and then the current Chrome, to see the different levels of codecs etc supported by the browsers.
Think of it like the very first browsers that where text only, then the html tags to allow images where developed, accepted and ratified and new browsers where written to accept and render images using the latest html specs.
It's simply the latest upgrade to the underlying html specifications gaining acceptance.
