How to Disable the User Account Icon after PC Sleep
I’m running Windows 7 Home Premium on my desktop and laptop and the only one using these PC’s.
When my laptop goes to sleep and start up, I get the small user account box that says locked. I have to switch users for my name to show and click OK. This sometimes takes time depending on the programs I left open. I’ve never had this with my desktop.
I think I have change my account type to “regular account” but that is grayed out in Control Panel user accounts. My Guess Account is off.
I’m Googling this process to get rid of the user account picture icon process with little luck. I haven’t found a You Tube tutorial yet explaining the process. I’m also going to set my laptop next to my desktop and compare user setting.
What is the process to disable this user account icon after my laptop goes to sleep? It has to be fairly simple.
Thanks!
Mike

I forgot to mention my desktop is hard wired in my office and my laptop is Wi-Fi form my router. As mentioned, my laptop is the one with the annoying user account icons.

See if this works:
Right-click on the Desktop and click Personalize
Click the Screensaver link
Make sure that "On resume, display logon screen" is UNCHECKED
Click OK

Thanks! I just checked that box and I'll see what happens soon after my laptop goes to sleeps.
You'd think MS would also put that notification in User Accounts.

It's a security thing, so they probably decided to err on the side of caution.
Windows won't lock your workstation when the screensaver comes on. You can use Winkey + L to lock it manually.

I closed my laptop for about 45 minutes and when I returned the logon screen was still on. However, my PC was totally locked up. Crlt-Alt-Del wouldn't even open. I had to do a cold shut down and start back up.
I'll see if this happens again.

That's strange. Unchecking the "display logon screen" box shouldn't have caused that.

I frequently run Malware Bytes and had AVG free. I replaced it with MSE and will run it again.
I've been searching for a pay-for A/V that won't drag the CPU like Norton does. I see Comodo a lot but doesn't look cheap. If does work well, it's worth the money.

Symantec completely re-wrote Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security in 2009, and they no longer consume boatloads of system resources. Before 2009, I did not use or recommend it, but since then I have started using it.

There is a free version of Comodo. You could also try Avast.
