    What virus scanner to use or should I abandon this pc

    I have an xp machine. I was running MSE and when xp went kerflunk I kept getting this laright large warning about it from MSE blocking about a third of the screen. Whats the best alternative to MSE (a freebie please)

    had the same scenario and went with AVG free ed. 2014 .. bad choice?

    Nope, doesn't matter. They both work fine.

    The last update from MSE was a file that intentionally screwed up some XP computers. I switched one to Avast and one to BitDefender

    No problems with MSE here. (XP Pro in a VM).

    Before abandoning that poor PC, consider a light distro of Linux.
