Question about PC change
I am about ready to dump one of my old stalwarts, a Dell running XP, for a new desktop PC. The current Dell is the PC on which I installed my LYNKSYS E2500 router software and is hard wired to the router. My new desktop says it will connect wirelessly to my home network. Am I correct in assuming that I will have to install the LYNKSYS software onto my new PC and connect it as I did my old Dell (in essence, starting from scratch in setting up my household wireless network) or can I just connect to the router as it is?

You don't need to install any software to connect to the router. All you need to do is choose the SSID of your router from the wireless networks detected, and enter the passphrase. This is assuming that you already set up your wifi network and encryption.

Yes, the wifi network is already up and going with encryption. So once the network is set up, it really isn't using the installated software anymore?

If anything, that was a router configuration software. I just log in to the router's console to set it up. No software required.

So should I even connect the new PC to the router with the ethernet cord that is present now?

What do you mean? You can just plug it in. You shouldn't have to do anything else.
