Did you go to disk management, and format the drive? Right click, Computer icon, chose Manage, then in there it will allow you to create a new partition and format the drive. Windows will then see the drive after you finish.

hmmm. Wonder if there is data on the drive that he'd like to keep?

If so, probably going into Disk Mgmt and assigning it a drive letter will bring it back
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

It doesn't show up in Windows or disk management at all. And Yes there is data on it, and yes it's backed up to a ex-usb 2tb drive.

I just want this drive to work.

I thought you meant new drive when you said "is the newest 2TB drive." Sorry about that.

No I didn't, to many issues. The hard-drive, no sound, hard to find drivers on a M/B thats 10 yrs old. I'm looking into building a 6 maybe 8 core system.

I'd go eight core. I have one, it's the one in my signature.

What heatsink did you go with?
    And, I'm seeing a 95w and 125w for 6 or 125w and 220w for a 8 core.
speed aside, doesn't the lower w=less heat you have to get ride of?

I am too using the stock hst on mine. My case came with two front fans and one rear fan, one top fan. All fans are 120mm and keeps this computer nicely cooled.
