    Unhappy Re:Windows update

Hello all, got a problem Re:windows keeps updating the same updates, or it seems there the same.
Can someone please advise how to stop this please.
Constant update icon asking to update.

Turned off auto update, but red icon appears reminding me updates are available.

What are the update numbers? Did you try manually installing them?

    Re:Update problem

aHello Midknyte and all, did a system restore from 14th August, got rid of most of the update repeats.

    Turned off microsofts auto updater.

Do you know how to stop the red box reminder from coming up?? Bit of a nuisance.
Best not having the updater working, to many copies being placed on my computer.

It might be a bit daft turning off microsofts updater, but, whats the alternative?

    Thanks for your reply, GEP

Instead of turning it off. Set it to let you know there are updates, but do not install them automatically. This way you can chose which ones to install or not install. The red warning up will go away and when there are updates to install a warning message will popup telling you so.This is how I have mine setup.

The same setting here too. A real bacon saver numerous times.

    gep--Yes, me too.
But next time you visit the Windows Update site, click the link "View Update History". That window will show you which updates have succeeded and which have failed. You also will see which updates (successful or failures), if any, are duplicates.
Now you will know better whether you really have a problem with repetitive updates.
    Let us know.
