Resolved [RESOLVED] Multiple Drop Box shortcuts on one PC?

We have two clients who wish to share their Drop Box folders with us. We would like to do this on one central PC due to the representative here who needs to deal with both clients in question. But can you have multiple drop box shortcuts on one desktop, pointing to different account folders? Maybe this is simple, but since we didn't set up the drop boxes in question, but rather just want to respond to the invite, I'm asking BEFORE something goes south from us trying. BTW, Drop Box themselves had a pretty interesting response to this question, and I quote:

Dropbox Support, Jun 24 12:13 am (PDT):
    Hi,
Thanks for writing in. While we'd love to answer every question we receive, we can't get back to you at this time.
If you need to restore a lot of files, please take these steps: https://www.dropbox.com/help/400
Also, check out our help center for solutions to the most frequent questions: https://www.dropbox.com/help
    We're sorry for the inconvenience,
    The Dropbox Team

which; needless to say, is a literally worthless and unacceptable response.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I am on this particular software has already investigated this... TIA

Have you done any sort of testing????

Login to one account and drag the URL to the desktop...then see what happens

As long as you don't do the Remember me...you should get prompted with a login screen... Each login will take you to the seperate account.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Steve I haven't yet... had a user claim that attempting this feat caused problems much more deeply rooted than just a "drop box" link failure, so I was simply trying to practice due diligence. Am setting up a virtual machine to test this with... but I'm kinda surprised that the question hasn't already been answered... seems like others would have long ago expressed the same need. How about that official response though, snarky eh?

am reading now Midknyte... that's two I owe you... I diligently googled and searched before I asked here, but didn't find that link... I didn't want to be snarky, but I'm not a nooby and telling me to "test it" just doesn't get me very far... I've usually far passed that point before I ask for help. Appreciate the link very much!

We use more than one account for our small business. The original one is the master where everything is uploaded to. The other is the one we share everything to (and have all users connect to.) This prevents users from permanently deleting anything (even if they try!)

Our choice was to use the web interface ONLY for both accounts. We did not install the program anywhere (except on the iPads we use to connect to the secondary account.)

We feel it all works quite well...

Thanks HAN... I'm going to have to think about this for awhile...

In our case, we aren't the entity that set up the dropbox accounts. It's two separate clients, so I'm not sure the web interface will solve the problem, let alone be convenient. I need to look into it a little deeper. Ideally, we would have two dropbox shortcuts on the desktop, allowing the user in question to share files with EITHER dropbox, but keeping them separate from one another.

I can see that dropbox isn't really configured to allow it, so am looking at some other approaches. Sure appreciate the feedback though, thanks again...

Well one thing to consider is that if you are actively sharing files between 2 totally separate, independent DropBox accounts, our web only method isn't likely to be the best method. We load files to one account and view them from another account. We never transfer between the two DropBox accounts.

Still, if you want to try to see how it might work, you would likely need to use 2 different browsers at the same time. You might use Firefox to open DropBox account #1 and Chrome to open DB #2. Less chance of confusion and log in "collisions". (You can make specific URL shortcuts that use specific browsers when they are ran. Samples here (Note that 64bit Windows uses slightly different paths for the browser executables than what is in the examples.) http://blog.scoopz.com/2008/02/25/cr...fault-browser/ )
