Issue with install of Ububto 12.04. Raid problem maybe?
The title said most of it. The machine is running 2 160 GB in raid 0 (striped). My client wants me to keep the windows install and add the Ubuntu as the secondary OS.
When I run the install (whether wubi or from boot) it will only find one HDD and will not allow me to partition for linux. I did try to part it before the install and that didn't work, I tried to let Ubuntu do it and that didn't work.
Any Ideas?

Try shrinking the size of the Windows partition first:

Yeah I should have mentioned that. I left 60 GB for the linux and 8 for any swap I may need. Whether I try a windows install or directly from disk at boot it still faults. Linux is giving me no info as to why.
I used mini partition tool to do it.

They want x64. I'm going to try the x86 and see. If that installs I need to find the reason why x64 won't. It does seem like it is the raid giving me the issue though.
Post back shortly

Can you see the 60GB partition in Windows Disk Management? (Click Start, right-click Computer and select Manage, then click Disk Management under Storage).

Yes. It is there. The x86 install won't go either. It says it was not cleanly unmounted, run chkdsk etc, which I have.

Did you format the 60GB partition and reboot?

yes, here is the error when I try to install in windows.
Code:
Error executing command
>>command=c:\windows\system32\bcdedit.exe /create /d
Ubuntu /application bootsector
>>retval=1
>>stderr=The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
The system cannot find the file specified
>>stdout=
For more information please see the log file.
The log file continues to this.

Oh that was after I resized again. I'll resize it back to 60 and repost. But like I sad. That was trying to install within windows.

OK redid the 60 GB partition, still cannot install. When it asks me for the root/ boot partition my options get crazy
I can't just give / or sda as boot

Hmmm, weird. See if someone over on Ask Ubuntu might have an idea of what to try next.

Figured it out....Crazy
I Imaged the windows drive, Then I put an IDE in for testing after taking the Raid drives out. Still didn't/ wouldn't install. Then I made sure the raid array was gone from the bios.
Sure looked good at that point......yeah right.
I went back and put the raids back on and installed to the 250 GB drive (linux) and it complained of a boot sector.
Rewiped everything and reset everything back up....still problems
Then reinstalled ubuntu 12.04...and it did yelp again, windows, and then threw all the info from the original windows image back on.
Now? It's just minor stuff...sound etc. Freakin crazy
