    Any use for "Rpcss.exe"?

    Was it recommended her sometime back that this win/sys-flie is not needed for '98 or may cause probs? Hence rename?
    Thanks, my brain needs more memory.

    Thanks. (no prob) Interesting read.
    So the final summation was not to rename or delete it.
    Could of sworn that it was advised to rename it (here on vr.dr.) sometome back ???
    So, guess I'll leave it "exe" unless someone advises different with good reason.

    You are likely safe renaming it. Probably 99% of Win9x (not true under NT) users can rename (don't delete for safety) RPCSS with no problems. If however you have auto-connections enabled when your system starts or a a developer that does a lot of DCOM stuff then you'll need it.

    By renaming it, if problems develop you can also just rename it back.
