How to obtain names of tunes already loaded in itunes
Using XP and the latest version of itunes on a pc.
I have lots of tunes in Songs in itunes. Some do not have the name of the artist or name of the album. I would like to name them. I have already tried Edit-->Preferences--->General--->Auto retrieve names. That applies when importing a cd into itunes. My songs are already loaded in.
I show, e.g., track 1, or 2 or 3. Is there a way to have itunes give me name a/o artist information on each of these tracks?
Alternatively, is there a software, other than itunes, which will do that? (I would prefer using itunes, if possible, so as not to have to load in more software.)

iTunes uses a code on the CD to get the appropriate information. If you still have the CD's that the traskc came from, re-importing them with the option you listed active might fix them. If they were not from a CD or an iTunes download, then you may need to either update them manually or use a third party program.

Since I cannot, apparently, do it with itunes, I am now testing a third-party program, Rinse.
Thanks for your response.

Follow-up:
I tried Rinse and found that it did a fairly good job, if I had some of the information, either the name of the song or the name of the artist. It found no information, if both are unknown. My reading of Tuneup says that it needs some information. (Both cost appx $40.)
Found a free one, called MusicBrainz Picard, which does a much better job of finding both name of song and artist, even if both are missing. I can now name all of my Kenny G tunes.
I do recommend MusicBrainz.
