SFC: IExplore.EXE (current older than previous?)
Running sfc led to over 30 so called verify updated files. But the weird thing is that most were original: 8/17/98 vs. xxx 4:21am
and the updated were: 8/17/98 same vs. 5:21am
This has to be an error. I clicked ignore???
One I need some help is IEXPLORE.EXE
previous: ----- current
8-21-00 ----- 6-6-00
62kb ----- 60kb
5.51 ----- 5.50.4134.600
How can the current be older than the previous??? And which is the correct one. I had 5.5 since it came out. Anyway I clicked ignore. Thought i needed some advise from here before doing anything. Since 'dw.exe' (associated w/ IE - I think) came up next as 'missing'. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
(Update it, Ignore,??? Dont have a 98 disk. 98 came with this HP all in one crap)
Also some.. (logagent.exe)example, had same dates and times but different versions.(what???)
Think it would have been better to not have run SFC.

Hi:
This won't be much help, but sfc is far from perfect. Were you having problems before you ran sfc?
You know the drill, "If it ain't broke . . ."

Experience is something
you don't get until
just after you need it.

I understand sfc is "far from perfect"
My main concern is IEXPLORE.EXE changing from 5.51 to 5.50.4134.600 (an earlier version)and the 5.51 dated 8/21/00 and the current dated 6/6/00 Thought I might get some input on what (if anything) I might have done to cause this. ***And how to restore the 5.51 version***
Yes I am having some Ill.Ops started recently and lock ups requiring holding On button 5 secs. to shutdown.
Thanks for the advise. I agree ...If it aint broke... but i think it may be cracked

Carson, I just checked my IEXPLORE.EXE and the File version shows 5.51 but down under Product version it show 5.00.3030.210 and the date is 8/21/00 so in this case SFC is correct for a change. I have IE 5.01SP1. According to Microsoft's data base 5.50.4134.600 dated 6/6/00 is the most current version and the 5.00.3030.210 that I have isn't even listed. Maybe that's why I've never had a single problem with my IE.
