    Resolved [RESOLVED] ccleaner

    Hi,when running ccleaner registry scan i keep getting the same 2 issues"obsolete software key-HKLM\Software\McAfeeRiskScan","obsolete software key-HKLM\Software\SiteAdvisor".This has been happening since i
    installed McAfee security.No matter how often i delete them they are back when i run the registry scan again.
    Can anyone help me with this

    Do you still have McAfee installed?
    How certain are you that ccleaner knows what it's talking about?
    If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    Yes i still have McAfee installed but the same 2 issues keep showing up when i run the reg scan in ccleaner

    Did you run the Upgrade Assistant for Win 8?

    McAfee and or another software is putting the reg entries there. I would ignore what CCleaner is saying.
    If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

    Also it's really not a good idea to use registry cleaners. More often than not they cause problems and very rarely, if ever, solve any. As good as Ccleaner is for other uses it's just another registry cleaner to not use.

    The space used by even a few hundred dead or obsolete registry entries is so small that it's really not worth thinking about and 99.9 times out of a hundred they cause no problems. And if there is an issue in the registry that is causing a problem then..

    a) chances that a reg cleaner will automatically find it is near zero

    b) it's better to manually troubleshoot the specific problem and fix it that way.
