CD Player No Recognised
XP pro
service pack 3
pentium 4 2.66 GHz
2 GB ram
I turned on the computer and after it loaded I went to use the CD player. It wasn't there. So I went into system-hardware-device manager and the cd was listed with an exclamation point saying the driver was not installed. I did a search and train suggested going into safe mode and deleating the CD player and restarting the computer. I did that and got the found new hardware message. But I never got the message that it was installed. I restarted the computer and went into the BIOS and it said the CD player was there. After starting the computer it was still not there. I tried installing another CD player and got the same thing. I made sure the jumper on the CD player was set to secondary master and I even tried removing the jumper and running it but no luck.
