Printer Uninstalls Itself
Hi,
I've been meaning to post this for some time now. Please let me know what info. you need.
I have a HP Photosmart 6280 All-In-One Printer. I don't know why, but it uninstalls itself from our laptops. Whiskey Tango Hotel? I'm clueless as to why this happens.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks!

How is the printer connected to the laptops? USB or wireless? And which OS are you using?

I thought it would be wireless so I'm going to move this over to the networking section. Some one there would be able to help you figure it out rather than here where we deal with broken printers more so than wireless issues.

A quick search reveals others have had the same issue, but I have not seen any solutions as yet.

Thanks, I will have to try the HP Expert Day as it's been driving me crazy for quite a while now. Nothing quite like installing your printer and then having it mysteriously uninstall itself. Very strange! I will post back when I get an answer. Thanks again for the info.

The initial answer you get may be "Oh, that is a Windows problem", since I have seen Lenovo printers with the same issue. However, even if that is correct, HP should still be able to provide an answer as to why it is happening, and a solution to stop it from happening. If their support is unhelpful, you might think about mentioning that you might have to buy a different brand of printer of you can't get theirs working.

I can tell you that I have already strongly considered a different brand of printer...
Also, a friend of mine shot me some info. about "How to Fix Disappearing HP Printer Drivers -- Disable HP CUE Device Discovery Service" but I honestly have not had the time to do anything but glance at it yet, but it is on my "to do" list.
Have a nice day!

Still Unresolved
I went to the HP Experts Day Forum and thought I was getting somewhere, but I never got any more replies to my questions after around 11PM or so. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them.
Thanks

Took a HP Survey
Hi,
HP sent me a survey which I just completed. I let them know that when I was getting help, it was good help...but that no one ever responded to my last few posts on the HP Forum. Don't know if it will do any good or not, but you never know.
I'm in the market for a printer very soon. Bet you can guess that it won't be a HP...

How often do you print photos on your printer? I use Brother printers for my needs. I have a black and white MFC laser unit (scan, fax, copy, print) and a color laser, as well as a label printer. The lasers have network interfaces so I can printer from any computer on the network. For photos I am looking for a decent dye-sublimation printer.

For black and white, I use a Brother laser.
Color graphics, I am now using a Epson Artisan 730.

JDC: I rarely print photos from the color printer. Heck, since it's rarely ever working, I can't even use black and white now...
Train: I have been thinking about a simple printer for just text.
Thanks guys!

Toner in a laser goes much farther than the ink in a inkjet and we do not run into the ink drying out and having to buy a new printer.
