Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 won't install
I bought Kasp IS 2012 on sale off Amazon knowing it will update to 2013. I'm also running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I spent hours last night trying to install it the CD. It never did ask for a serial key but started installing. It stopped at a compatibility issue. I did download the free KASP CapperKiller and it found nothing and tried again with no luck. I unistalled my old AV and disabled the Windows firewall. Still no luck.
I do have Malwarebytes Pro installed which is supposed to be compatible with all AV programs. It did catch 3 threats before I tried installing KASP.
I did reinstall MS Security Essentials to be covered. If KASP can't run with MWbytes, I'll have to send it back and just use MS Security Essentials.
Also, is Norton still a big drag on the CPU like it used to be? I did a trial with AVG IS 2013. It seems like it's full of useless "fix it" add-ons. I uninstalled it.
Any suggestions,
Mike

It stopped at a compatibility issue.
Probably need more detailed info on exactly what the error message said.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

The KASP error message said it was trying to disable incompatible files or programs. I let it go for an hour and nothing was happening...like it stuck in a Fortran loop. I can try again tomorrow and see the exact error message. I also disabled Windows Defender.
It looks like more people do use Kaspersky than Bitedefender.

From what I have seen, Kaspersky does not get along with Malwarebytes.
I use Norton Internet Security (NOT Norton 360), and I have not experienced any significant performance issues with it.

Do not install from the retail CD.
You can download/install the current Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 from their website.
During the installation process,
Enter the key on the CD envelope when prompt appears.
Cheers.

Thanks...I'll uninstall MS Security and do a download. I did think of that, maybe I got a corrupt KASP 2012 CD.

I don't think you ended up with a corrupt disc,
More likely that there was a conflict with one of the other security software.
Cheers.

It looks like KASP 2012 and MWbytes Pro don't play well together. I had the same problem...KASP was trying remove incompatible software and nothing was happening.
I like MWbytes as it's caught a number of malicious files. Also Bitdefender 2012 shows mixed reviews in the forums which I take with a grain of salt. Maybe their 2013 version is better.
I think I'll stay with MS Security Essentials and MWB Pro for a while and see what happens. Security Essentials does a lousy job of upgrading on a frequent basis...I have to stay on top of it. Maybe the AVG free version does a better job but the "buy me" pop-ups are annoying.
