Will the Site Search function ever be restored / fixed?
Searching is a hit or miss - most often a miss. Is it related to the site re-indexing? And, will the re-indexing ever be done for this site? I ask b/c the site is still unbearably slow most of the times.

Yes. In theory the search function will be fixed.

I'm tryting to find a post of mine from about a year ago, but the search is still wonky. Any workaround, so I don't have to post the Q again?
And are our signatures gone?

Tip: Adding whatever else unique you can think of to the end of that string should help narrow the number of hits you get.

FYI - I just finished a long discussion.... The IT people swear that the the Indexing was done and that the search function should work...
Anyway - they will be re-building the indexes...which apparently can take a few DAYS..

Steve,
I hope the indexing works this time. I tried some searches for some words that should have returned lots of results two days ago, and got nothing. Maybe the IT types should try some searches of their own after the indexing finishes, just to see if they get anything.

I didn't get any results, so just went backwards through the forum.

It is definitely not working. I search for the word "windows" under my own user name and it returns only 4 posts. I must have used the word "windows" in at least 1000 posts here.

In the far upper right of any page is a SETTINGS link-> then on the left side-> EDIT SIGNATURE... If you are doing that - what happens/doesn't happen when you try to edit?

That's exactly what a NON Indexed aka broken search function looks like

You're good! Hit it right on the head! I haven't been around much; when was the software changed?

Ironic that at a computer tech site, the software is flaky.

Tell them to do a search for the word "computer" in all open forums.
Results go back to July 9th and stop. Ask them if that date has any significance.
Hint: it does.
