BTW, it's real easy to do. Simply boot your system from the Knoppix CD/DVD and that's it, your running the Knoppix Operating System. It has all the normal stuff such as internet browsers, editors, spreadsheet, word processor, file manager, system utilities, etc., etc., etc. Then when you're done fiddling around, remove the Knoppix CD/DVD and reboot from the hard drive (Windows).
I ran Knoppix CD this morning and it worked when my laptop switch is set to STINMIA (I assume this setting is the Standard setting (??) . On this setting, it didin't work on Windows before). But Knoppix don't seem to work if my laptop setting is set to SPEED (it works on Windows on this setting). Knoppix stopped at PCMCIA found, starting cardmgr after it performed CPU frequency scaling enabled for CPU#01
So not sure what all this boils down to. If based on my "assumed" Standard setting and it runs ok, then does this mean something is wrong with Windows ?
By the way, is Knoppix only in German or I was unlucky enough to download a German edition ? But at bootup, it was in English. But once it gets to the Desktop, everything is in German ! I was using Knoppix v5.1.1 If there is a English version to download, how do I find out that version is in English ? Thanks.
