DVD spinning but not playing

I have a combo DVD-VHS player attached to my TV, which also has a converter box attached. Haven't used the player in several years, but I know it was perfectly functional the last time.

We tried a DVD last week, and I can hear it spinning, but there's no video or audio.. The TV was set to AV, I've checked the cables, we've gone through the manual instructions several times. We tried several DVD's. I think it's something that's staring me right in the face.

The player is a Samsung DVD-V4600. It's connected directly to the TV because I never record, just play.

It's inside the player but the only safe way to clean it is with one of the disk cleaners that I linked to above.. it's extremely sensitive and using anything more than a cleaner disk with it's tiny brushes would not be a good idea. They aren't expensive and even if it doesn't solve this issue they are a good thing to use on DVD drives/players periodically anyway.

I don't think I'd try to make my own though as shown in that video tutorial.

Thanks, but the one over my TV is a lot more complex than the one in my PC. I'll go with the ready-made cleaner.
