Yep - been away on business and just back. It's bedtime here now. Will post the logs from OTL tomorrow but - to my untutored eye - they look clean.

Really appreciate your help and perseverance here. But these two logs look clean to me. Also - and forgive me if I'm being naive here - I have just tried uninstalling Firefox and deleting my profile and application data, then reinstalling (v10 - previously running v9 when the hijack occurred) and re-creating my profile ... and no more browser hijack . Everything seems clean as a whistle.

I'm inclined to leave things as they are for the time being but be extra vigilant for any further oddities. What do you think?
