ASUS U31SD WLAN driver can not be installed !!!

    Dear Experts

I have got ASUS U31SD,,,,I installed windows 7 Ultimate for it , but I forgot to record what was the name of the wireless driver before formatting it

    http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Superi...31SD/#download

I downloaded the below two drivers (there is not third one to try it) from the official ASUS website above, but non of them worked.

Intel(R) WiFifamily WiFi Wireless LAN Driver

Azurewave Wireless Lan Driver and Application

Wireless hardware is on not off ?

Now I am confused I do not know which is the proper driver for the laptop ?

    Thanks

When I select the Win 7 64 bit OS, I get a complete list of drivers for the hardware on that laptop.

The LAN driver is as follows:
    Description Athros LAN Driver
File Size 219,77 (KBytes) 2011.01.13 update

There are 5 different Wireless drivers listed. You could try each one, or see if Device Manager shows which hardware you have, or use something like Belarc Advisor to see what the hardware is. I assume that you don't have the original driver CD for the laptop.

You may also need the Chipset drivers first as well.

No laptop doesn't have that CD.

This is working fine and I am using it to access the internet and post to the forum

There are 5 different Wireless drivers listed.
The first 3 is Intel(R) WiFifamily WiFi Wireless LAN Driver with updated version

The last 2 are Azurewave Wireless Lan Driver and Application

And this what I referred to it as two drivers

I did install this driver first

    Thanks

Was this a reinstall of Win 7, or was there a different version of Windows on it originally?

If none of those drivers worked, then you may have to try to find out which hardware you have before we can figure out what drivers to use.

The Atheros driver is your wired LAN driver. The Network Cotroller with the yellow exclamation point is likely your wireless device. Since the wired LAN is Atheros, the other one probably is as well.

    Check out these links:

In Safe Mode, the Device Manager will enable you to remove any drivers, including any "phantom" installations you may see that can be partial or failed installs.

It should be possible to determine the identity of the device by right clicking on the Network Controller and going to Properties\Details\Hardware IDs. If it's Atheros it will show VEN_168C. If not, either way you can enter the VEN and DEV values at http://www.pcidatabase.com/ to determine what it is.
