Which Printer to buy
Hi
I want to buy a printer but i cant decide which one to buy.
I have been looking on the net and asking around but some people say Cannon and some say HP and i cant make up my mind so i need some help with this please.
I had two HP printers in the past and they both broke down within two years. So, what do you think/recommend ? HP or Cannon ? my budget is £50 and Maximum is £60 (there is a sale at the moment in my budget range in PC World). So, laser is out of the question, i guess it will have to be an inkjet and I am looking for an all-in-one that has a photocopier.

I would stay away from the HP printers if I were looking for one. I don't know if you will be able to find a printer/copier/scanner/fax unit in your price range though. You might check on what a Brother laser MFC unit costs in your area.

My office just got an HP Officejet Pro 8600 All in One...It was $180 USD.
It's pretty cool. It has a multi sheet feeder so that you can scan several pages to one doc.
Another cool feature is that you get to assign the machine an email address.. That helps you to be able to print from a smart phone etc..
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

What do you mostly want to print with it? I would choose a different printer for photo printing than I would for mainly text documents, so it would be good to know your requirements before advising.

A lot these inkjets I have looked at (all makes) have the following problems:
slow
frequent paper jams
does a lot of clanking before printing and starting
does not take the paper
takes time to prepare to print
isnt there an inkjet without any of these problems ?

For a mere "£60" I'm afraid you're going to experience some "slow, frequent paper jams, does a lot of clanking before printing and starting, does not take the paper, takes time to prepare to print".

You may want to consider saving up for a colour laser instead - you'll do away with most, if not all, of those problems, and they are generally a good deal cheaper to run too. You won't get one for £60 though
We've had a laser for 10 years now, and wouldn't want to go back to an inkjet for general printing. They do still have the edge for photo printing, but that's the only advantage that I can see with an inkjet.

We have two laser printers at work, it maybe cheaper to save-up and buy after months but even then its expensive to run, the ink/drum unit costs are very expensive.

In most cases, the per page ink costs for an inkjet will be even higher. Ink is where they make their money.

My Brother HL-5370DW, strictly black and white, sure printed 40 reams of paper cheaper than my Epson Workforce 1100 could have and that is cheaper than any HP by $20 for a set of ink.
Points to ponder.
