    Alternate CPU cooling

I use an AMD 995 quad core cpu. It is about 2 years old with original amd heatsink and fan.
It is summer here and no air con in the room so it is very hot.
The CPU is usually on 46c to 48c , but this last week it is going as high as
62c and of course the pc is not peforming and even lockimg up.
The heatsink fan is at top speed and very loud. I have cleaned out the heatsink and repasted it.
I think the amd fan is nearing its use by date.
I am thinking of going to either a Corsair hydro H60 cooler
or a Thermaltake bigwater 760 cooling kit.
Any suggestion on either of these 2 devices is appreciated.
    Thanks

The Corsair Hydro has an excellent reputation. It is on the pricey side though.

You might also want to consider this one - I have recently installed it on my overclocked i7-920 rig after my watercooling unit packed up, and the temps are only slightly worse than watercooling. I have been extremely impressed with it, and I thoroughly recommend it

I will probably go for the corsair.
    What is normal core temp?
I have read everything form 39c to 59c is a normal idle temp.
No 2 sites say the same thing

It depends on too many factors to really be able to say what is "normal". If it idles under 40C, that is fine IMO. If you can max out the CPU and keep it under the temp at which it starts to throttle itself back, then that is all you need to worry about. I like this nice program to stress test the cooler:

I wonder if adding HOT WATER to a pc will do anything to cool it down.

Won't the water end up being as hot if not hotter then the air around it?
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

Do you have case fans? The front blowing and one need the power supply blowing out.
We have to get the heated air out of the case and draw cooler in.

Are the case fans working, and are the blades clean.

It is idleing now on 46c and the room is reasonable cool.
During the day it idles on anything from 56c upwards, that is when the problams start.
There is a new corsair powersupply and it is blowing out a lot of hot air, on the back is a big fan sucking out hot air. I recently cleaned the heatsink and fan and that droped down the noise of the fan a lot and the temp..

I will change to the corsair water cooler

I installed the N60 hydro system.
    What a difference.
Core is now 36c and 40c under load.
It is quiet as a mouse.
    Good value great product.
So easy to fit to Skt AM3 board.
I think these closed hydro coolers would be far better than a water cooling system that needs a top up.
This N60 has 5 years warranty.

I may well fit one of those hydro coolers to my next build

Out of interest, what is your room temp like over there at the moment? I can get similar idling temps with air cooling, but I suspect your room is a bit warmer than mine.

The outside temp is about 35c. In this room it has only a celing fan and 2 windows i think about 30c.inside

Those are excellent results in that case. Very impressive

For comparison, with my room temp at 22C, my Core i7-920 rig (with 10% overclock) idles at 37C and maxes out at 85C core temp, with an Arctic Freezer 13 cooler.

My Core i5-2500K rig (with a 20% overclock) idles at 38C and maxes out at 65C core temp, with a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 cooler.

If you haven't done so, run OCCT on yours though, because that is the only way you will get true full-load core temp readings. 40C with a 30C room temp is just a bit too good to be really true, so I think you need to re-test that.

Download this and run it, and then post your Speedfan results after it has been running for 3+ minutes.

Idling temps are a bit neither here nor there, really. Continual full load is the acid test.

I would only expect condensation if you take a cold PC and remove it from the AC vent, allowing warmer, humid air to be sucked in and blown against the components. Because in that instance you have cold components doing the same thing the cold coils do in an AC unit.
