Something eating bandwidth
Hi all, I need a program that will tell what is using up my friends bandwidth.
He has a satellite internet with limited download (525MB) week.
He keeps running out in 2-3 days and says he does no downloading.
Has turned off Windows auto-update.
He scanned for trojan horse viruses and found 3 and removed them.
However something keeps using up the bandwidth.
Is there a program I can get that will show me exactly what program is downloading?
He's running Windows7 32bit.
Thank You
Dave

You can also get a good idea of what the computer is doing by opening Task Manager, then in the Performance tab, click "Resource Monitor". In the Network tab, you can see exactly what is sending and receiving.
It may well be that nothing is particularly out of the ordinary there though, 525MB is a very small amount of data by today's standards. You can easily use that in 2 or 3 days just by normal browsing.

And if they hit you tube, it may only take one evening to hit 525 MB. Video, whether news or singers, is heavy on the bandwidth. Graphics are another killer. I use about 10 GB of bandwidth a month.
