[RESOLVED] New Keyboard - media hotkeys not working
I just bought a logitech wave 450 ergonomic usb keyboard. It has some media hotkeys (for home page, explorer, calculator etc) which according to logitech don't need drivers, but they don't work.
I'm on XP SP3.
The previous keyboard was an unbranded one with programmable hotkeys, which I've uninstalled. I also restored the original windows keyboard drivers kbdclass.sys and bkdhid.sys in the hope that might be the problem
For any keyboard I know of one has to install the appropriate software for that particular keyboard in order for the hotkeys to work. Usually they come with a CD in the package, if not go here: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/434/30...uct&osid=&bit=
The software for the keyboard is there.

All the data I have seen on that model indicates that there are no drivers for it, and even Logitech's previous multimedia key software won't recognize or work with the keys on that keyboard. So, unfortunately, if they don't work, then there may not be anything you can do to get them working.
An alternative if you return it:
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
I am using one now and I love it. The hotkeys are user defined after software installation and it works for my big hands. $30 - $35 US from several online vendors.

Yeah, I have that keyboard at work and its spot on for me, but non touch typists find it freaky and at home other people use the pc as well as me. The curve is less intimidating than the split keyboard.
@everyone
My supplier gave me a number for logitech support so I called them. They said the keyboard is driverless, then suggested I install some drivers. I did this but no difference. Then they said sorry they have no further suggestions thankyou for calling logitech today.
Meantime I tried out the keyboard on another pc (which also runs XP) and it worked, with no driver installation. I put my old keyboard back on mine, its working and my wrists hurt again when I type any significant amount. Since I write short stories this is an issue, and I'm back to square one.
Sorted. At the suggestion of my hardware supplier, I installed the microsoft intellitype driver. Even though its a logitech keyboard, everything now works.
